FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE YOUR STUDIO FOR MY PORTRAITS, PHOTO RESTORATION, PRODUCT OR ART REPRODUCTION PHOTOGRAPHY?

I encourage you to browse my Galleries to experience the quality of my work firsthand. My BA in Photography included a second major in Art & Design, which enables me to provide work that is a cut above the average. The work that I provide, and the equipment that I use, is among the highest quality in the industry. What's more, my extensive training in Photoshop allows me to digitally fine-tune my portraits and product photography, so that my images truly take on a look of fine art, rather than simple snapshots. Also, I am always willing to go the extra mile to get you the absolute best photographic results possible; I don't set tight time or posing limits for my sessions (which many other photography studios do). Finally, I am absolutely committed to providing excellent customer service. If you read my Angie's List and Yelp Reviews, you will find that I get outstanding reviews from my clients.

HOW LONG DOES A PORTRAIT SITTING TAKE?

Each portrait session varies, depending on the subjects' age, number of people in a group session, special pose or background requests, and clothing changes needed. Generally, I tell my clients to allow at least an hour. However, the younger the child, the shorter their attention span. If you want to capture a variety of poses with different family members, etc., it is best to capture the most important pose combinations first, so that when fatigue sets in, the most important work is done.

ARE CLOTHING CHANGES ALLOWED?

There is no extra charge for clothing changes. In fact, I encourage my clients to bring an extra change of clothing if they are unsure about what to wear. Sometimes the camera lens sees clothing differently than the human eye. *Click here for "Tips on What to Wear" for your portrait sitting.) Feel free to also bring fun hats or socks. However, one thing to keep in mind...it happens very frequently that, when you change a child's clothing, their mood changes and they no longer want to be photographed. So it is best to avoid clothing changes and bring your child to the studio already dressed in the clothing you think might work best.

WHAT KIND OF BACKGROUNDS ARE AVAILABLE?

You can view samples of several of my backgrounds in my portrait galleries on this web site. I can also send an e-mail with a low-resolution sheet of my primary backgrounds, just call or send an e-mail to request this.

HOW LONG AFTER A PORTRAIT SESSION CAN I EXPECT MY PORTRAITS TO BE READY?

This will depend on the season (holidays are usually the busiest times), but generally you will receive your proofs within about a week, and your printed portraits 2-3 weeks after your order is placed and deposit is received.

WHAT SIZES AND FINISHES ARE AVAILABLE?

Because I custom print most of my portraits in-house, I can print to almost any size required. Matte, semigloss, and canvas finishes are available, but I generally recommend matte finish because its archival qualities are superior. Unlike most other photograph studios who send their prints out to mass-production commercial printers, all of my prints are made using long-lasting archival materials. Gallery-wrap prints, books and albums are also available; however these cannot be printed in-house. For book and gallery-wrap orders, I carefully prepare and size the images, and send these orders to one of my top-quality professional photography service providers.

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH IN COLOR OR BLACK AND WHITE?

I capture my images in high-resolution Raw mode, which enables me to provide either color or black and white images. Raw mode ensures the highest quality and resolution possible.

CAN I BRING FOOD OR TOYS FOR MY CHILD?

By all means, bring a snack or your child's favorite toy, but please keep them hidden away at the start of the session. It is best to capture your child's portrait without props, so that all focus and attention is on the child's face and expression. However, if/when the child needs some emotional or nutritional reinforcement, we can take a break so that you can provide it.

WHAT WILL MY PORTRAITS COST?

The cost of a sitting and prints varies, depending on the number of people in the portrait and size of the order. My prices are among the most reasonable in the professional (credentialed) photography industry, and package discounts are always available for multiple-print orders. Please call or send an e-mail to request my price list.

WHAT IF MY CHILD WAKES UP ILL THE MORNING OF THE PORTRAIT SESSION AND I HAVE TO RESCHEDULE?

While I encourage my clients to provide at least 48 hours notice to reschedule, in the case of illness there is no charge for rescheduling. My goal is to provide you with the best portraits possible, and if a child is ill it is best to reschedule.
